Snack Away with Enlightened Crisps
I LOVE snacks. I leave the house each morning with my packed lunch and a minimum of two snacks each day because I like to be prepared! Give me a great tasting snack with 3 grams of fiber and 7 grams of protein? Now we’re really talking. Enlightened Crisps. Our office received some samples of these snacks and I enjoyed them so much, I volunteered to write a review of Enlightened Crisp Snacks.
Protein and fiber are two wonderful things that help increase satiety.
While Americans typically are getting enough protein in their diets, fiber is more elusive. The recommended intake of fiber is between 25 and 30 grams per day. Most Americans are consuming about half that amount. Fiber is also important for heart health (lowering your cholesterol) and for diabetes management (stabilizing blood sugar). You can increase your fiber intake by choosing more whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and beans!

Enlightened Broad Beans (Fava Beans)
So this is where the beans come in.
This delicious snack filled with fiber and protein happens to be broad beans! Enlightened Crisps are roasted broad beans (or fava beans), and they have a very satisfying crunch. But the best part is their pretty tasty flavors! They come in Sea Salt, Mesquite BBQ, Garlic & Onion, and my two favorites, Wasabi and Sriracha. A crispy snack with bold flavor definitely keeps things interesting! And it’s nice to turn the package over and read a list of recognizable ingredients like broad beans, sunflower oil, and spices. But wait, there’s more. The beans are also gluten free, Kosher, and vegan!

But why do I love snacks so much?
I think they are a great way to stay on track. If you have healthy snacks on hand, you’ll be better prepared for the moment hunger strikes. By making healthy options easy and available, you are more likely to choose them!

So when that salty craving hits you mid-afternoon, having a bag of Enlightened Crisps could definitely help satisfy your hunger! They even come in pre-portioned packs to make it easier to grab-and-go.
