Tips to Follow through with Goal Setting
-
Choose attainable, small goals to start
We tend to feel so fired up by our new ambition that we want to hit the ground running. But I caution you to ignore that urge! This is going to be a transition for you, so make it smooth by setting your sights first on slightly easier goals. If you haven’t exercised in months, it would not make sense to aim to run two miles each day for a week. Try instead to shoot for 20 minutes of walking daily. You’ll graduate to the next step soon enough with a huge boost of confidence (since you nailed your first set of goals!) when you’re ready for something new.
- Make sure in some way, whether qualitatively or quantitatively, you can track your progress. This way you can celebrate each step of the way! You can use old fashioned paper or a snazzy new app. We can always recommend a new useful app for you to try. Currently we like Recovery Record and My Fitness Pal.
