The holidays are filled with family, friends, and so many amazing FLAVORS! I would have to say my favorite holiday flavors are pumpkin (like most people these days) and ginger. Because I love to bake, I always have to incorporate these flavors into my holiday desserts!

Let’s start with pumpkin. Pumpkin has completely permeated the market over the years, and for good reason. It’s delicious and so versatile! Now of course I love pumpkin pie, but sometimes we need to stray from tradition! Have you ever had a homemade poptart? How about a pumpkin pie pop-tart? Seriously, you need to make them. If you don’t have time (or the desire) to make pie crust from scratch, you can grab some pre-made crust at the store! You also have complete control over the size of your pop-tarts, so they can be made into bite size pockets of pumpkin perfection.

But what if I don’t like the crust? Crustless Pumpkin Pie is the perfect solution to that problem. Add a dollop of whipped cream for a little slice of heaven!

Now let’s get to the ginger. This spicy root comes in several different forms: the whole root, minced in a jar, crystallized, pickled, ground into a powder…any way you could want it. While it is delicious in savory foods, I really love the spicy kick it gives to sweet treats. These soft and chewy ginger cookies are sweet with the perfect amount of spice! If you want a break from gingerbread men, give these cookies a try!

Speaking of gingerbread, most people know it in the form of a cookie. However, a loaf of gingerbread can be divine, especially when topped with cream cheese frosting and a sprinkle of crystallized ginger!

Finally, we can’t forget about those gingersnaps. While this crunchy cookie can be tasty on its own, it also makes a wonderful crust for a tart. The sweet and spicy crust pairs wonderfully with a rich, dark chocolate filling!

No matter what treats you make for the holiday season, the most important thing is to take the time to enjoy the delicious flavors. Savor the foods, but also savor the moments with family and friends!
