your
health
From compassionate one-on-one care to practical nutrition guides, our team of registered dietitian nutritionists is here to help with a variety of services and resources tailored to your unique health needs.
Nutrition services
Whether you want steady support, flexible strategies, or easy-to-use resources, we’re here to make nutrition feel more approachable.
Nutrition counseling

Work one-on-one with a dietitian to explore your unique health goals, challenges, and lifestyle. Together, we’ll create a flexible plan that supports your well-being. Counseling sessions provide a safe, supportive space for lasting change.
Meal planning

If you’re tired of stressing over “what’s for dinner,” our dietitians can help. We’ll guide you in building meal ideas and routines that fit your schedule, preferences, and family needs—making mealtime simpler and more enjoyable.
Nutrition testing

Sometimes the missing piece is data. We offer nutrition-related testing to help identify potential deficiencies or underlying concerns, giving us a clearer picture of your health so we can tailor recommendations that truly fit you.
Books & resources

Looking for resources you can use at your own pace? Our books and Gentle Nutrition Guides provide practical, non-diet strategies you can start applying today—designed to make nutrition feel approachable, flexible, and sustainable.

Frequently asked questions
What is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)?
Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) are health professionals specializing in food and nutrition. The title of RDN is a nationally recognized credential. All our RDN’s have completed a Bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition and/or Master’s degree in Nutrition and then an approved Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics dietetic internship. RDN status also requires successfully passing the National Registration Exam and accumulating a sufficient number of ongoing continuing education credits annually.
An RDN is sometimes referred to as a nutritionist; however, a nutritionist who has not achieved RDN status may not advertise or practice as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
In the state of Maryland, Registered Dietitian Nutritionists are licensed (LDN) to prevent misuse of the term nutritionist. RDNs and LDNs are the only health professionals permitted to counsel patients on medically necessary dietary intervention.

Please contact us at 301-474-2499 if you would like more information. This information changes periodically so we are happy to help you any way that we can. You can also contact your insurance company for more information regarding your specific plan.
Although we are more than happy to answer questions, you may find it helpful to call your specific company directly.
Below are some questions you might ask your insurer to learn more about your coverage for medical nutrition therapy (nutrition services).
- Does my health plan cover for the CPT (current procedural terminology) codes 97802 and 97803? These are the codes for the initial and follow-up appointments with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
- What is the coverage for a specialist’s office? Rebecca Bitzer and Associates (RBA) is considered a “specialist office”; this may differ from a hospital or primary care setting.
- Do I need a referral? (If yes, please bring your referral with you!)
- For which diagnoses will be covered for nutrition counseling? Some companies will only cover for certain diagnoses. The most common covered diagnoses include diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and kidney disease. Please contact RBA if your company is asking about specific diagnosis codes. We can provide these for you.
- How many sessions or units will be covered?
- What are my out-of-network benefits for nutrition counseling? If you have out-of-network benefits, RBA will be more than happy to provide you with detailed receipts to submit to insurance.
- Do I have a deductible? How much is it and how much have I paid already?
- It is recommended to obtain a reference number for your call.

We kindly ask that you choose a quiet, private location to conduct your virtual session.
How do I know which dietitian is right for me?
We’ll help match you with a dietitian based on your goals, preferences, and any health conditions you’re managing. You can also read through our team bios to learn more about each provider’s specialties, approach, and personality. Still not sure? Just ask—we’re happy to guide you.

Our dietitians have experience treating children with diabetes, food allergies, eating disorders and more.
