Everyone! While we do think this guide is a great accompaniment to the intuitive eating literature, you don’t have to know about or be actively practicing intuitive eating to use this guide. If you are practicing intuitive eating, we think you’ll find this guide helpful as you navigate the final principle, gentle nutrition.

Gentle nutrition is the last step of the intuitive eating process, and for good reason. Eating for physical health may draw you back into black and white thinking about food. What foods are “healthy” or “unhealthy”, “good” or “bad”. Establishing a foundation of food neutrality and body trust has to come first. Otherwise you run the risk of turning intuitive eating into another diet. Talk to your dietitian to see if our guides would be right for you. 

No, gentle nutrition is not a weight loss diet.

Our guides are designed to support your journey in honoring your physical health with food so you can balance your diet with foods that both taste good AND feel good in your body. 

Intuitive eating teaches you how to listen to your body’s cues for hunger, fullness, and satisfaction and reject the dieting mentality that gets in the way of you being able to do so. 

While practicing gentle nutrition and intuitive eating, your body may settle into it’s biologically appropriate/set point range or may not change at all.
