Registered Dietitian Nutritionist in Maryland

Hi!  My name is Emma Sharp. I am a Registered Dietitian in Maryland. I see patients in Greenbelt and Columbia and virtually across Maryland, DC & Virginia.

Growing up loving science and animals, my passion for nutrition originated from researching plant-based nutrition to learn if I was able to achieve a healthy diet that aligned with my ethical beliefs and preferences. Upon learning how I could align my values with my health goals, I became passionate about studying nutrition. The more I learned, the more I realized just how impactful nutrition can be for supporting overall health and chronic disease management, leading me to become passionate about helping others use nutrition to their benefit.

After further pursuing my nutritional science education, I became passionate about nutrition as it relates to prevention and management of various chronic conditions. I believe, while remaining mindful of social determinants of health, it is possible to achieve a healthy and sustainable lifestyle using nutrition as a tool! Whether you follow a veg-diet or not, I am passionate about helping clients achieve their personal health goals through sustainable and balanced habits, using a non-judgmental and inclusive lens.

No matter what your goals or preferences may be, I'm here to cheer you on along the way and support you on your individualized health journey!

All about Emma's
nutrition approach

Using a non-judgmental and non-weight centric lens, I aim to help clients achieve their personal health goals through sustainable and balanced habits. My role as your dietitian is to listen and be an advocate for your health and well-being while accounting for your lifestyle and personal preferences.

I love helping others find a balance between their health goals and their values and preferences. I strongly believe that if a strategy is not sustainable, then it will not lead to long lasting success.  I focus on collaborating with you to find sustainable habits to add to your lifestyle vs unnecessary restriction.

During our time together, I promise to do my part to provide you with resources and develop strategies catered to your needs in order to support your health goals while being mindful of your values, lifestyle, and food preferences.

What does a first session look like?

Our first session focuses on getting to know you as an individual and obtaining clarity on what would like to achieve through nutrition counseling. To do so, we will complete an initial assessment at your first visit, which is key to making your nutrition care plan custom and individualized to your specific goals and lifestyle!

This conversation is intended to be supportive and judgment-free, focusing on understanding your medical history, exploring your current eating habits to assist with establishing realistic health goals.

After the assessment, we will start exploring any questions that you may have, followed by outlining our next steps together so that you leave feeling supported and prepared to continue working towards your health goals!
