Registered Dietitian, Board Certified Specialist in Digestive Health, Certified LEAP Therapist in Maryland

Hi, I’m Kathleen Tabb! I am a functional medicine focused, registered dietitian that specializes in digestive and autoimmune conditions. I see clients in Rockville, Greenbelt and Columbia, Maryland and virtually across the USA.

My interest in nutrition and dietetics stemmed from my own experience with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). At the time of diagnosis, management tactics were not well known/studied which was frustrating! I was left to research and advocate for myself. I decided to pursue my master’s degree in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine immediately following my internship to increase the tools in my toolkit.

I understand the impact that digestive conditions have on quality of life, whether that be socially, nutritionally, and/or emotionally. My insight into these realities motivated me to want to do more for my clients. I strive to be as educated as I can on digestive conditions so they don’t find themselves alone in their journey.

I firmly believe in the connection of all bodily systems (with the digestive tract at the core) and how this is essential to overall health and well-being. I can help you reduce uncomfortable GI symptoms, and find foods that help you feel your best.

"I do this work to help clients regain control of their digestive symptoms with the least amount of dietary restrictions possible to improve their quality of life."

All about Kathleen's
nutrition approach

I take a personalized approach to my clients, and strive to see them as an interconnected whole instead of a diagnosis.

I will work to understand the root cause of your ailments, and from there suggest diet changes, testing and supplements, if needed. I work to meet you where you’re at in order to gain control of your symptoms. There will never be a shortage of support and empathy!

Food can be medicine and what we eat has a huge impact on how we feel!  I hope to help you overcome fear of foods that have caused such unpleasant reactions and bring back normalcy to your life.

What is a first session like?

The initial session will involve a lot of questions! My approach consists of a holistic/functional assessment to find a connection between what might be going on and any other bodily systems. I use a wide range of tools including elimination diets/dietary manipulation, food logging, specialized testing, and supplements when needed but before that can happen, I need to collect a lot of information on your medical health history.

After this, together we come up with small, attainable goals that fit both lifestyle, motivation level, financial restrictions, and desire.
